Whitewater Fun

Glade residents are minutes away from Class I to Class V rapids of the ancient New River or the “beast of the East” Gauley River. Whether you want to meander peacefully through nature on crystal clear water taking in the gorgeous mountain views in the nation’s newest national park or are seeking a wild adventure sure to be remembered amid sparkling autumn colors, West Virginia offers the highest density of whitewater runs in the U.S. Kayakers are equally at home on these beautiful waters. For the less adventurous, the nearby Greenbrier and Bluestone Rivers are perfect for float trips and canoeing.

At Adventures on the Gorge experience horseback riding, kayaking, paddle boarding, rock climbing, and an adventure park, in addition to whitewater rafting. Ace Adventure Resort is located on 1,500 wooded acres adjacent to New River Gorge National Park and Preserve. Besides the rafting, Ace boasts zipline tours, rock climbing, mountain biking, lodging, camping, and a waterpark.
