WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS, WV (WVVA)– Workers are adding the finishing touches to The Greenbrier’s Center Court at Creekside.
The grand opening will be June 20 for the match between Pete Sampras and Andre Agassi.
“There’s not a place like this in the country, especially in a resort,” said Director of Tennis, Terry Deremer.
Deremer hopes that serving up big tennis stars will bring big tourism to the area.
“It’s going to bring a high level of tennis to White Sulphur Springs and the Greenbrier County, and it’s going to help all the hotels, especially if we get a Davis Cup,” said Deremer.
He says they’re in talks with the United States Tennis Association (USTA) to host a Davis Cup match, possibly next year. He’s hoping to see some of his favorite players.
“Maybe Federer will play for Switzerland, in the Davis Cup, Nadal plays for Spain, and the Williams sisters play for the United States,” said Deremer. “It’s going to be a great future.”
